Oakland Athletics Japanese pitcher Shintaro Fujinami showed chronic control problems and lost the team victory.
On the 6th (Korean time), Fujinami pitched in relief in the 2023 Major League Pittsburgh Pirates game held at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, USA.
Fujinami received a sortie order in the bottom of the 6th inning with a 3-1 lead, with one out and bases loaded.
Fujinami faced Pittsburgh’s signature hitter, “Pirate Captain” Andrew McCutchen.
The first pitch cut fastball and the 2nd and 3rd pitch four-seam fastballs all went out of the strike zone. Fujinami seemed to find some sense as she struck a 100.2 mph four-seam fastball on the fourth pitch.
Fujinami slammed the 5th, 6th, and 7th pitches with a four-seam that exceeded 100 miles. However, veteran McCutchen adapted to the monotonous ball distribution and cut all these fast balls.
Fujinami threw one of the eighth pitch. He punctuated a 102.1-mile four-seam with an outside low course. He unfortunately appeared to be finely low. His referee’s hand did not rise.
It was a push walk. As they were chased by 3-2, the crisis with one company loaded continued.
The next batter was Brian Reynolds. Fujinami’s control was even more shaken, perhaps because of his heartache. He opted for a splitter instead of a fastball on 2-strike 2-ball. The fifth pitch became one-bound, and Reynolds could not be fooled. The splitter thrown on the 6th pitch at full count fell outside. The score was tied at 3-3 with another push.
Afterwards, Fujinami conceded one more point on a sacrifice fly and allowed a comeback.
Fujinami also came on the mound in the 7th inning. In the bottom of the seventh, he got one hit, but easily got three out counts with strikeouts and double hits.
The interesting thing is that Fujinami’s earned run is zero. Fujinami sent in only three successors and did not accumulate an earned run. He went 1⅔ scoreless innings. Fujinami’s season ERA was lowered from 12.19 to 11.57.메이저사이트
Meanwhile, Bae Ji-hwan of Pittsburgh played as center fielder and scored the winning goal with 1 hit in 3 at-bats and performed a show of hobi. The game was won by Pittsburgh 5-4. Pittsburgh has won 6 in a row and Oakland has lost 5 in a row.
