A woman in her 60s who was hit by a vehicle belonging to Mr. Choi, a suspect in the Seohyeon Station weapon riot, died.
She was treated in a hospital for brain death and died three days after the incident.
As the first death among all 14 victims came out, Choi’s charges were added to the existing attempted murder and murder preparation, as well as murder.
Circumstances in which Mr. Choi deliberately prepared the crime were also revealed.
The police are conducting forensics on Choi’s two cell phones and a PC , and it has been confirmed that Choi searched for the Sillim-dong weapon riot that occurred before the crime.
In addition, Choi was found to have searched for keywords such as ‘sashimi knife, gas gun, anti-knife, illegal to carry a knife’.
Mr. Choi also posted a picture of himself holding a weapon on the Internet community where he was active, and he wrote, ‘I’m going to eat dessert in the basement of Seohyeon Station’ the day before the crime.
As soon as the forensic work and analysis are completed, the police plan to make a final judgment on whether Choi has carefully prepared for the crime.
Choi maintains that he committed the crime to publicize the organization that was stalking him.
However, the police are conducting interviews with profilers, weighing the possibility that Choi committed a crime due to paranoia caused by mental illness.
Along with this, the police plan to open a personal information disclosure review committee to decide whether to disclose Choi’s name, age, and photo.
