Lee Gi-in, a member of the Safety Administration Committee of the Gyeonggi먹튀검증 Provincial Council, revealed the situation of victim A and her family in a post on Facebook on the afternoon of the 10th. Rep. Lee wrote, “Hospitalization fee of 13 million won on the 6th. The hospital fee shown by the parents of a 20-year-old female student who was in a state of brain death, a victim of (suspect) Choi Won-jong, whom I met yesterday at the Ajou University Emergency Trauma Center.”
Rep. Lee continued, “The problem is that there is no place to rely on,” and pointed out that Mr. A’s family can receive 50 million won a year from the prosecution’s crime victim support center, but this is only about a month’s worth of life-sustaining treatment.
He also said that the compensation to be paid by the perpetrator’s insurance company is about 15 million won, but even that is impossible to duplicate with the support money from the Crime Victim Support Center. Moreover, Mr. A’s family said that they were in a situation where they had to choose ‘only one’ between the center’s support money and insurance money.
Rep. Lee said, “The student has no insurance, and civil lawsuits against the perpetrators are far away, and the other support money is 0 won.” Isn’t it an incident that could happen to me or them?”
Previously, a vehicle rushed in front of a large department store near Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, and a riot with a weapon occurred, resulting in 14 casualties. The identity of the suspect was revealed to the public on the 7th when the police held a personal disclosure review committee, and it was revealed to be Choi Won-jong (22).
Choi Won-jong was arrested and sent to the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office around 9 am on the same day. He said, “I’m really sorry to the victims,” leaving the detention center at Seongnam Sujeong Police Station and not covering his face with a hat or mask.
